The Giving Spoon

The Giving Spoon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide hot nutritious meals to our community in a caring environment. This is a new endeavor to expand food resources and reduce hunger in Swain County. Meals are free and everyone is welcome. Our vision is that no one will go to bed hungry We are hopeful that the impact of increased food resources will lead to overall better health in our community.

 

When & Where:

• Location is at the Bryson City Presbyterian Church, 311 Everett St., Bryson City, NC 28779

• Meals are served Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00 PM - 5:15 PM. 

• Meals can be picked up at the Church or delivered to your home.

Strengths & Challenges

• Swain County is a caring community which cares about the well being of others. We have many churches and organizations that are willing to help. With a united front, we can reduce hunger in Swain County. Our challenges: a rural community, lack of transportation, 6-% of students receive free/reduced lunch, grandparents raising grandchildren, and significant poverty, which all contribute to food insecurity.
